the sky right now
What the planets are doing this week — and what it means for you.
Pluto has been moving through Aquarius since November 2024 — a nearly two-decade transit reshaping how power flows through technology, community, and the stories we tell about progress. Now in retrograde until October 15, that transformation turns inward. This isn't external chaos — it's an underground current pulling old fears, control patterns, and inherited narratives up to the surface to finally be examined. Where have you abandoned your own knowing to stay acceptable? Where have you given your power to a screen, a crowd, or a version of yourself built to survive belonging? This retrograde doesn't ask you to have answers. It asks you to stop pretending the questions don't exist.
Love wants to be seen. Venus in Leo turns up the warmth, the drama, and the desire to be adored — this is not the time for subtlety. Creative expression, romance, and showing up fully as yourself are all favored right now. If you've been dimming your light, the sky is asking you to stop. Pleasure, play, and pride in your own work are not luxuries this season — they're the assignment.
The mind turns inward and emotional. Mercury in Cancer softens how we speak and listen — communication becomes more intuitive, more feeling-based, less linear. Writing, journaling, and heart-to-heart conversations all flow more easily right now. Heads up: Mercury goes retrograde on June 29 in Cancer. Back up your files, slow down on big decisions, and revisit old creative projects that deserve a second look.
Mark your calendar. Jupiter, the planet of expansion and luck, moves into Leo on June 29 — beginning a year of amplified creativity, visibility, and big-hearted abundance. This is one of the most generous transits of 2026. If you've been working on something you want the world to see, this energy will carry it further than you expect. Start now, launch then.
this week
A weekly reflection — thoughts, feelings, existential crisis.. things worth writing down.
Today's journal entry from the book "Shadow Growth Journal" prompts us to dive into the quote, "To confront a person with his shadow is to show him his own light." Yes, sorry, another quote by musty Jung.
Wow, this one really made me think for a whole 20 seconds. For the first 10 seconds, I was a bit confused, but then I remembered an ethical practice in medicine called motivational interviewing (Motivational interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, goal-oriented counseling style used to resolve ambivalence and strengthen a person's intrinsic motivation for change- Google) For example, if a patient comes in who has an alcohol addiction and a failing liver, instead of the practitioner giving tough love advice to the patient they would make the patient come to the right conclusion all on thier own. The practitioner would say, "If you stopped drinking today, what positive gains would you gain immediately and long term?" instead of "If you don't stop drinking now, your liver will fail." Do you get it, reader? I'm sure you do. It's basically reverse psychology. Now back to the quote. Is it possible to confront a person about their shadow using their light? I would say yes. It sounds counterintuitive and backwards, but when you really think about the makeup of human beings, it works. It's a way to address the negative sides of a person by using their positive sides.
Human beings are naturally selfish and self-absorbed. Some more than others, but it's a trait that everyone carries in our DNA. Hence why God sent his only begotten son to die for our sins and all that. Psychologists in the 1980s knew this about people and knew about the egos we carry. They found that a patient at risk of liver disease responded more to their own reasoning rather than to that of a trusted professional. Honestly, I've never been one to get told what to do. It's actually one of my biggest pet peeves. But I have always valued the opinions of my loved ones, but I have always valued my opinion more. The same is likely true for you, reader. (ear candy playing, don't you see yourself in me right as I wrote that last line) Motivational interviewing would 100% work on me if I could feel like I came to a big brain conclusion to stop drinking excessively all by myself for reasons I came up with rather than a doctor telling me in their fancy white coats and shii.
When people get a glimpse of their own light, something changes on the inside. It's like a neural pathway awakening and lighting up within them. It's actually beautiful. Additionally, true transformation comes from awareness and action. What a person is not aware of, they cannot change, nor will they have a drive to change it. Cause and Effect in play here. Something interesting about humans is the ability to lie to ourselves. (I'm totally also a human) But that ability thins over time as more light awakens within them. The shadows essentially become impossible to ignore. And if they were to try to ignore the shadow or push it away, it would eat at them over time. And that is not the people you want to be close with, reader, because they will eat at you in return in a desperate attempt to refill their draining cup. Imagine living in a cage of your own mind. Hell nahh. Real freedom comes from courage.
